Pomona Quilt Show

I’ve given up trying to fix font size and the font. It is what it is.

Well it was really a quilt VENDOR show. And it was fun seeing all the fabrics, kits and samples. I did buy fabric for a swap and spent the morning cutting, pressing and getting envelopes ready to mail.

I am going to put an audiobook on and finish binding a quilt that goes out this weekend.

Nothing more here. Rico seems better from his recent bout of sick, but I am watching the old guy. He gets so cold now and must have arthritis bad enough to sleep so much.

Comfort and Joy

This is my recent comfort quilt. Unpressed and without batting, back or quilting. Scraps. Almost a no brainer. Unfortunately some of the stars have rays on the same value charms and do not show. It is what it is. I do like the borders.

I spent time today uploading the photo, trying to figure out font and size. Jeeze.

Some days it is enough to get done what I do without adding stress. This is one of those days.

It’s the Process

I worked on a comfort quilt today. And I played around with my IPad photos to get them on the blog. Of course my day was safe inside until I had to get out in it, going for an annual appointment and grabbing a few groceries.

I joined a group that swaps fabric. From what I see, there are at least 2 monthly swaps. Each has a specific theme and a specific cut of fabric. Participants are grouped and send the cuts to each. I signed up for a FQ or fat quarter/farm themed group. My group will have 5 participants and we send 2 different FQs to each, which means having 2 yards of fabric to work with. I have some fabric for a quilt that getting 8 small pieces might get me started. I’ll try the group out and see what happens.

WorkDay

I didn't go further on the grad quilt. I finished the first border on one of the comfort quilts. And I laid out the purple/blue/green Oh My Stars quilt, which is also a comfort quilt.

Its turning cold again, with a very dark sky outside, which means is hard to feel warm inside. As the weather turns, I think about making food for warmth, and turning on the oven. I decided on a tuna casserole for the stove. It is easier in the end. I also figured out how to use Vudo on my Smart TV so have a movie in and am laying under a heated blanket. Can't stand the cold.

Grad Quilt

Snowed here. Mail brought fabric for the Snowflake quilt I want to make for myself and a purple, plus fabrics for borders on a low contrast quilt. Roads were closed as were most businesses in town. It’s sunny but very cold today. Snow hasn’t melted, but I don’t feel like getting out in it. No gear. We’ve had a drought for awhile and I gave it all away.

I had help reading a pattern and cutting pieces for the next step. Once all the steps are cut and pieced, the finish should be easy. I think this part is the fourth step or month. The pattern maker didn’t present the best directions, but the end product is lovely. I’ve had a hard time working on it because of all the confusion. I did have help reading it.

Also, I joined a mini quilt swap. So many fabrics, this will be fun. Partners are assigned March 1.

As for photos. As soon as the blocks start going together, I will. Now the look like scraps.

Low Contrast

These kinda quilts (low contrast) are hard for me. I second quess the results every time. Funny that both are in the yellow family and its a color I don't chose often.

The blocks and vertical sashing are done, and I've cut strips for the back. I've started hacking so my throat is sore. While I got a lot done today, it was another day that I realized that age has creeped in and I am slower than I was even 5 years ago. This is an easy quilt pattern that I made in a day long ago.

Oh sure, I couldn't move for a couple of days after, but it was done.

During my research, I found a pattern that would use more of my stash, and just love it and need to read it before getting started. I had been looking for house block quilt patterns. This is a castle quilt pattern on the diagonal. The older patterns sometimes are free now. Thing is, they use older quilting methods, So I have learned to watch.

Snow is continuing to fall and I suspect there will be a buildup on the ground by morning. I shopped this weekend and stocked up on food and beverages. THEN today, my Chocolate & Charms package arrived. I will neither starve, got a gift of decaf (I didn't buy it so am willing to try it) and some ideas for quilting. I am set. At least through Saturday.

Blog OK

Google’s email was both informative and confusing. After spending time, my blog is on Blogger and is fine for me to continue using. At onetime I must have linked it to a + account. What I learned is that I cannot look back and pics of the quilts is an era. I am here. In this space.

I worked on 2 quilts and do not have either top finished. Scrappy quilting’s con is how much time it takes to get fabrics to work. And as my stash lightens, that task gets harder.

And now I return to my work.

Google is Deleting Accounts

Still trying to figure it out but Google sent a blanket email to say these accounts will be deleted by April 2. I had the weekend to delete photos but, this is a foolish thing. I started this blog in 2013. Six years and to what end? I don’t need an ego trip, nor was I particularly artistic. This was to be a spiritual journey.

I will look around for a new site. Who knew?
